Welcome to Eiderstedt

Warft Simmerdeis is based on the peninsula Eiderstedt in a thatched cottage on a mound, which was first mentioned in 1796 in the books. My property is located on one of the most beautiful streets of Eiderstedt, which is lined with almost 50 thatched houses, Haubargen and farmhouses, as well as different fields and pastures with sheep, cows and horses. A great place to get away from the city life and come to rest. Therefore, guests are welcome from 12 years onwards.

By the way “Simmerdeis” is old Frisian and means “in the summer” – but I hope that you feel like that in any season at Warft Simmerdeis.

Apartment 1 / Attic

The apartment is on the 1st floor – a staircase from the main entrance leads directly to the attic. Dining area and kitchen are divded by a room divider in barn optics from the sleeping area.

The high quality kitchen is fully equipped with dish washer and many kitchen tools you want to have for a longer stay.

The shower room is decorated in British style with underfloor heating, victorian floor tiles, armatures and ceramics – equipped by Traditional Bathroom from the U.K.

Hairdryer, bed linen & sheets, shampoo, shower gel, soap, conditioner and bodylotion are of course available as well.

The bedroom has a 160x200cm queen size bed and a Smart-TV. Costfree WLAN is of course available as well.

Directly in front of the apartment is the gallery where you will find a piano and a fine selection of books to read in your spare time. Everybody who can play the piano is invited to play.

Apartment 2 / Ground Floor

The apartment is located on the ground floor and consists out of a master bedroom a Lounge area with pull out sofa and smart TV, dining area with cast iron fireplace, separate kitchen and a beautiful bathroom.

The high quality kitchen with dishwasher and many kitchen tools is fully equipped for longer stays.

The shower room is equipped in British style with underfloor heating, victorian floor tiles, ceramics and armatures from the U.K.

Bed linen and sheets, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bodylotion and soap are of course available as well.

The master bedroom has a 180 x 200 cm king size bed. There is costfree WLAN – and hopefully soon fiber optic cable. 

I designed the bedroom for couples who want to have space around them while on vacation.But in the lounge, right next to the master bedroom is a pull out sofa where theoretically two more people could sleep. But please ask us before booking for more people than two.

Maisonettewohnung mit großer Terrasse

The duplex apartment is on the ground floor and first floor and has its own private entrance that leads to the terrace, which only the tenants of this apartment may use. The kitchen-cum-living room is the highlight of this apartment, as you already have a fantastic view of the garden while having breakfast. There are two fireplaces in the eat-in kitchen – one fireplace is right next to the front door to the large hallway – the common room. The other tenants will be happy if you light the fireplace, as this will heat up the large tiled stove in the hallway, so that there is a cozy atmosphere here too – especially in autumn and winter. The second fireplace is exclusively for you in the dining room area – a glass of red wine in the evening and the view of the crackling fire is a wonderful way to relax. And if you want to work instead of looking into the open fire: Of course, there is also fast free WiFi (fiber optic cable).

The terrace is the focal point in summer, as you can always marvel at nature from here, as the property has an incredible number of old trees and the garden has been lovingly landscaped by the owner with lots of flowers.

From June to September the magnificent hydrangeas are in full bloom and every meal on the terrace is celebrated and is a small garden party. Of course, it can also be a nice sundowner. As one or the other guest says: “More is not possible.”

The high-quality, tastefully furnished kitchen is not only equipped with an oversized oven, dishwasher and stove with ceramic hob and Le Creuset pots, but also with many kitchen tools that make all amateur cooks happy and also invites you to stay longer.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom with a large Smart TV and a 200 x 1.80 cm bed has an incredible view through the large picture window and the sun kisses you awake in the morning if you haven’t drawn the opaque curtains. The first coffee in bed tastes fantastic with the view of the garden at sunrise and the day invites you to discover North Friesland, or simply to stay in the garden.

A very nice bathroom with brick wall, shower bath, ceramics and fittings from England and Victorian floor tiles leads directly off the master bedroom, which all guests (ideally a family) share. Hair dryer, shampoo, soap and towels are of course available.

The second bedroom, also very comfortable, overlooks the orchard area, has a 200 x 140 cm bed and is said to have a fantastic quality of sleep.

Simmerdeis am Hafen in Husum

My apartment Simmerdeis at the harbor in Husum impresses with the view from all windows directly onto the Husum inland harbor and the cute old town, which can be reached in 5 minutes on foot. Restaurants, cafes and shops are right on the doorstep.

The large and bright living room with floor-to-ceiling windows leads directly into the dining room area, which is connected to the kitchen. The balcony facing the water has beautiful evening sun and invites you to have a sundowner or just relax.

The special feature: The height on the second floor (without elevator) – guarantees you an incomparable view – but nobody can look into your window. The apartment is on the top floor and designed for a maximum of 4 people.

There is a bedroom with a bed (180 x 200 cm) for two people and the second balcony opens from here. The living room has a pull-out sofa bed (160cm x 200cm) for two more people, a cozy seating area and a smart TV. WiFi and bed linen are of course available for every guest.

The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, oven and all common kitchen tools that you need for cooking.

The bathroom is equipped with a shower bathtub and, like on Warft Simmerdeis, there is also a hair dryer, make-up mirror, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner, soap and body lotion, cotton wool / cotton swabs. Towels in different sizes per person are of course also on site

The apartment has the luxury of two balconies – one overlooks the water and invites you to enjoy a cozy sundowner in the evening sun, the other balcony leads off from the bedroom. The apartment is a non-smoking apartment – smoking is only permitted when the doors on the balconies are closed.

The apartment has a parking space for your car in the immediate vicinity.

Mein Ferienhaus Simmerdeis an der Gracht liegt im holländischen Städtchen Friedrichstadt, das auch liebevoll „Little Amsterdam“ genannt wird. Es ist großzügig für 4-6 Personen konzipiert.Es liegt direkt am Binnenhafen, von wo man direkt am Bootssteg vor der Tür mit zwei hauseigenen Kanus und einem SUP auf die Grachten oder die Treene paddeln kann. Restaurants, Cafés und urige Geschäfte liegen direkt um die Ecke am Marktplatz. Das historische Haus, das komplett kernsaniert, hochwertig renoviert und Ende 2022 liebevoll eingerichtet wurde, hat im Erdgeschoss einen grosszügigen Wohn- und Esszimmerbereich. Im Wohnzimmer steht ein sehr bequemes, ausziehbares Schlafsofa (140 x 200 cm mit Topper), wo zwei Personen schlafen können. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet mit Geschirrspüler, Herd, Backofen, und allen gängigen Küchentools, die man zum Kochen benötigt. Von dort geht auch das untere Badezimmer mit Duschbad ab. Das Badezimmer ist mit einer Dusche ausgestattet und es gibt hier wie auf Warft Simmerdeis auch einen Fön, Kosmetikspiegel, Duschgel, Shampoo & Conditioner, Seife und Bodylotion, Handtücher in verschiedenen Größen pro Person sind selbstverständlich auch vor Ort. Der ganze untere Bereich ist mit Fussbodenheizung ausgestattet, so dass man auch im Frühling, Herbst und Winter immer warme Füße hat. Im ersten Stock befinden sich die zwei Schlafzimmer, die jeweils mit Smart-TV ausgestattet sind. Das Masterbedroom für zwei Personen mit Boxspringbett (160 cm x 200 cm) hat einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Gracht und Treene. Das zweite Schlafzimmer mit Polsterbett (160 x 200 cm) hat den Blick auf die frisch angelegten Gründächer und den Innenhof mit Blick auf die alte Werkstatt. Hier werden zur Zeit im Winter 2022/2023 zwei Lofteinheiten zur Ferienwohnungnutzung geschaffen, die ab Frühjahr 2023 gemietet werden können. Im ersten Stock ist ein weiteres helles, freundliches Badezimmer mit Duschbadewanne und Blick auf die Gracht und die Treene. Im zweiten Stock gibt es einen Yogaraum mit Equipment (Yogamatten, Sitzkissen, Yoga Blocks und Gurt), den man gegen Aufpreis anfragen kann. Er eignet sich für kleine Yoga- oder Meditationsgruppen/Retreats. Wlan und Bettwäsche für jeden Gast ist selbstverständlich vorhanden. Es handelt sich bei dem Ferienhaus um eine Nichtraucherwohnung – Rauchen ist nicht gestattet. House garden and environment

I like to open the house for guests and am – if on site – always happy to contact for tips and a good conversation.

Of course, I respect the privacy of my guests, just as I wish for myself. The center of attraction in the house is the hallway with high ceilings with the tiled stove. Here you will find a big dining table at which every one can meet but nobody is obliged to.

Dogs are very welcome and my happy pointer Kona is always keen to play with guest dogs. The garden behind the house is completely fenced and can be used by all our guests and dogs – of course without any guarantee as we do not know how deep your dog can dig or jump. On our fenced sheep meadow directly close to the parklike garden there are our two old and quite shy sheep – the skuddes Lisa and Joe and 8 Ouessant sheep (Penelope, Penny,Hanni & Nanni, Frieda, Aazadi, Poonam and Toddy) – the smallest sheep breed of the world. If your dog is a hunting dog please put him  on a towline in the garden, so that you can easily stop him from hunting so that none of our animals is harmed.

The garden is the jewel of the estate. It is 6.500 square meters big and edged by huge, old trees. There are six different garden characters. My guests are allowed to enter all gardens (except for the sheep meadow) in order to picknick, sleep, meditate or just to look at water and the fields, observe birds in bushes and trees and eventually spot deer, rabbits, pheasants or herons.

I feel this place as a place of power full of positive energy, are close to tourist attractions, the Eider and the Wadden Sea. But beware, dear city dwellers – you will live here next door to lovable farmers, who also like to mow at night and pick up the harvest – so it can sometimes be that you hear the sound of agricultural vehicles or sometimes our lawn mower or tractor. There are no pigs or chicken litter batteries in the neighborhood. Accordingly, there is no typical odor nuisance or health hazard. All neighbors deliver their milk regionally to the Osthusumer Dairy in Witzwort, where there is also a nice farm shop with regional products.

Activities in the environment

Of course Eiderstedt is an El Dorado for water sports enthusiasts. In St. Peter-Ording the world championships in surfing take place. A great place to go swimming and there is a well a huge dogs beach! But you can do so much more at Eiderstedt: Go bikeriding, go on tracking tours, rent canoos and ride along the Eider or Treene, rise kites, go jogging, horseback riding or play golf and do great trips to the villages just next door such as Tönning, Friedrichstadt, Husum or many other attractions.

I love to travel though as yourself and discover new places and countries. I love to stay in bed & breakfasts rather in hotels as I believe that this is a more charming way to travel and meet new travelers and hosts at beautiful places. I love to spend my spare time in nature with our animals and  truly love the countryside.

The environment

Warft Simmerdeis is located between Oldenswort und Witzwort, on the peninsula Eiderstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Close by to  Friedrichstadt (9 minutes by car), Tönning (11 minutes by car), Husum (21 minutes by car),
St. Peter Ording (25 minutes by car) – beachlovers can enjoy the biggest beach of Europe  (12 km length and 2 km width).
Friedrichstadt is known through its dutch influence and better known as “little Amsterdam” with its charming dutch architecture and canals.

My favorite restaurant in the village right next door in Witzwort (8 minutes by car) is the “Rote Haubarg”, a historical farmhouse of the 17th century with its own museum, restaurant, café and outdoor terrace. Directly in Oldenswort you can visit the impressive mansion Herrenhaus Hoyerswort (anno 1594) where you can as well have a good piece of homemade cake and a great selection of teas and as well coffee and enjoy a beautiful dinner in the Brasserie – french style with Frisian accents. The restaurant is placed in one of the old stables. I love it here!

Means of transport

If you come here by train it makes most sense to travel to Friedrichstadt. From there it is only a 9 minute cab ride to Warft Simmerdeis. You should preorder the taxi at the taxi transport Blume & Claußen (+49-4881 500) to make sure that you will have a cab waiting for you by arrival.
